When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should

always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and

injury to persons, including the following:

•Read all instructions before using appliance.

Wireless Air Quality Center directly into 120V

AC electrical outlets.

• If the filter is covered by a bag when shipped: remove plastic

bag before use.

• Keep the cords out of heavy traffic area. To avoid fire hazard

NEVER put cords under rugs, near heat registers, radiators,

stoves or heaters.

•To protect against electrical hazards DO NOT immerse in

water or other liquids. Do not use near water.

•Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by

or near children or disabled persons.

•Always unplug the air cleaner or EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air

Quality Center before moving it, opening the grill, changing

the filters, cleaning the IR Lens or whenever the appliances

are not in use. Be sure to pull by the plug and not the cord.

• NEVER drop or insert any object into any openings.

• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, if

motor fan fails to rotate, after the appliance malfunctions, or if it

has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return appliance

to manufacturer for examination, electrical or mechanical

adjustment or repair.

•Use appliance only for the intended household use as

described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by

the manufacturer may cause fire, electrical shock or injury to

persons. The use of attachments not recommended or sold

by The Holmes Group may cause hazards.

in a room with temperatures between 40° F and 110° F

serviceable parts. All servicing should be performed by

qualified personnel only.

CONSUMER SAFETY INFORMATION

THIS PRODUCT IS EQUIPPED WITH A

POLARIZED PLUG (a plug having one

blade wider than the other). This plug

will fit into the power outlet only one

way. If the plug does not fit fully into the

outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does

not fit, contact qualified personnel to

install the proper outlet.

DO NOT DEFEAT THE SAFETY PURPOSE OF THIS

POLARIZED PLUG IN ANY WAY.

The length of the cord used on this product was selected to

reduce the hazards of becoming tangled in, or tripping over a

longer cord. If a longer cord is necessary an approved extension

cord may be used. The electrical rating of the extension cord

must be equal to or greater than the rating of the air purifier. Care

must be taken to arrange the extension cord where it cannot be

pulled on by children or accidentally tripped over.

FEATURES

Dual Position – The air cleaner can stand upright or lie on its

side. Also designed to fit with its back flush against the wall.

When positioning the unit, please be sure the air inlet and air

outlets are not blocked to ensure maximum airflow.

Three Levels of Filtration:

Washable Foam Pre-Filter – Captures larger particles like pet

dander and prolongs the life of the HEPA and CARBON filters.

Carbon Filter – Helps reduce household odors and remove

larger particles.

HEPA Filter – Removes 99.97% of airborne particles as small as

0.3 microns from air passing through the filter. This includes things

like smoke, dust, pollen, ragweed, grass-

es, mold spores, dust mite debris and

pet dander.

Carbon Filter Indicator – When the

carbon filter indicator light turns red it is

time to change the carbon filters.

HEPA Filter Indicator – The filter life

monitor uses a series of lights to give

you an indication of the remaining filter

life. With new filters the bottom light will

be illuminated green. As the filter life progresses the filter life indi-

cator will move to yellow and your HEPA filters should be

checked for particulate accumulation. When the filter life indicator

light is red, it is time to change the HEPA filters.

Wireless Air Quality

Center – Multifunctional providing an indoor air quality display,

auto mode, programmable controls, remote operation of air

cleaner as well as a clock and alarm mode.

Air Quality Sensor – Uses an advanced infrared optical system to

constantly detect tiny airborne particles in the air around the

EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center, such as pollen and dust.

It displays the air quality conditions using a series of LED lights

glowing red when high levels of particles are present and green

when air quality is improved.

Advanced Communication Technology – Radio frequency

technology sends continuous signals between air cleaner and

EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center.

Sensor Control Mode – When set to Sensor Control auto mode,

the sensor measures your indoor air quality and adjusts the fan speed

automatically to provide optimum filtration. It also helps conserve

energy by only operating the fan at higher speeds when needed.

Remote Operation – The function of the

EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Qulaity Center

is similar to a remote control. From across

the room, you can operate your air cleaner

- you can change speed settings, turn off

the appliance or set to sensor control.

Programmable Controls – Gives you the

flexibility to program your air cleaner to turn

on and off at your convenience.

Clock/Alarm Mode – Convenient clock

and alarm mode make the EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality

Center multi-functional. Replaces tabletop or nightstand clock.

Also features a 10 minute snooze alarm.

This product earned the ENERGY STAR by meeting strict energy

efficient guidelines set by the US EPA. The energy efficiency of the

ENERGY STAR qualified model is measured based on a ratio

between the model’s CADR for dust and the electrical energy it

consumes, or CADR/ Watt.

PRE-OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Carefully unpack your air cleaner. Select a firm level place

where there are no obstructions to the air inlet or filtered air

outlet. A good location in a room is approximately one foot

away from the wall, in a central location of your home.

2. Open the door of the air cleaner by carefully placing fingers in the

indentation on the right side of the door and gently pull forward.

3. The carbon filters, which are packed in a plastic bag in the

box, should be removed from plastic bag and then placed on

each of the HEPA filters. The plastic tabs on the HEPA filter

will hold the carbon in place. (Figure 1)

4. This model utilizes a hang tab. The filter

should easily slide onto the filter hang tab

with only a small amount of pressure.

(Figure 2)

NOTE: The side with the soft gasket

should face inward.

5. Replace the front grill by swinging door

closed and gently press until front grill is

firmly in place.

6. Carefully remove your EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center from the

packaging materials.

7. Select a firm level place on a tabletop or

counter where there are no obstructions

to the venting holes.

SYNCRONIZING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Plug the air cleaner into a 120V AC electrical outlet. The air clean-

er will begin to beep continuously until it is synchronized with the

EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center.

2. Plug the EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center into a

120V AC electrical outlet near the air cleaner. It will beep

once. NOTE: EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center is

designed to operate up to 30 feet from air cleaner.

3. Synchronize the appliances by simply pressing the on/off button

on the EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center. The air cleaner

will beep in rapid succession for a few seconds. The

EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center is now ready to

operate with your air cleaner.

PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS

CLOCK

When the EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center is plugged into

the electrical outlet, the time will automatically set for 12:00 am. After

the clock has been set it will show current time as long as the appli-

ance is plugged in.

1. To set the clock time, press the “CLOCK” and “SET” buttons

at the same time. The hour numbers will begin to flash.

2. Press “+” or “-“ to set desired hour., then press “SET”.

3. When a button has not been pressed for a few seconds OR

when the “SET” button is pressed again, the minute numbers

will begin to flash.

4. Press the “+” and “-“ buttons to adjust the minutes as indicat-

ed above in step 2.

5. When a button has not been pressed for a few seconds OR

when the “SET” button is pushed again the clock will begin

operating.

ALARM

The EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center is equipped with

an alarm clock option.

Setting Alarm

1. To set the alarm, press the “ALARM” and

“SET” buttons at the same time. The hour

numbers will begin to flash and a small bell

will appear in the bottom right hand corner

of the LCD screen.

2. Press “+” or “-“ to set desired hour., then press “SET”.

3. When a button has not been pressed for a few seconds OR

when the “SET” button is pressed again, the minute numbers

will begin to flash.

4. Press the “+” and “-“ buttons to adjust the minutes as indicat-

ed above in step 2.

5. When a button has not been pressed for a few seconds OR

when the “SET” button is pushed again the time will appear

on the LCD screen and the alarm is set. A small bell will now

appear in the bottom right hand corner indicating the alarm is

operational.

6. To check the alarm setting, press the “ALARM” button. The

alarm set time will appear. Press the “TIME” button to return

to clock mode.

Turning Alarm OFF

1. When the alarm goes off, a rapid beeping will be heard.

2. To deactivate the alarm press the “ALARM” and “SET” buttons at

the same time. The bell in the right hand corner will disappear.

3. The longer the alarm sounds the louder it gets.

4. The alarm has a snooze feature. Press the “ALARM” button

when the alarm is sounding and the alarm will turn off. After 10

minutes, the alarm will sound again. The alarm will continue to go

off every 10 minutes until the alarm mode is deactivated. See

step 2 above.

Programmable Timer

The EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center has a programmable

timer feature. You can program the air cleaner to turn on and off at

your convenience. NOTE: The EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality

Center must be used to turn the air cleaner on, set the operating

speed, and turn air cleaner off in order for the timer to work.

(Steps 1-3 below)

1. Using the EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center turn the

air cleaner on by pressing the “ON/OFF” button. (See

Operating Instructions below for more details.)

2. Set the desired operating speed by using the “MODE” button.

3. Then using the EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center turn

the air cleaner off by pressing the ”ON/OFF” button.

4. To program the timer press the “TIMER” and “SET” buttons

at the same time.

a) Set the “Timer On” time first: To set the time the air

cleaner will come on, press the “TIMER” and “SET”

buttons at the same time. The hour numbers in the

timer section will begin to flash.

b) Press “+” or “-“ to set desired hour., then press “SET”.

c) When a button has not been pressed for a few seconds

OR when the “SET” button is pressed again, the minute

numbers will begin to flash.

d) Press the “+” and “-“ buttons to adjust the minutes as

indicated above in step 2.

e) When a button has not been pressed for a few seconds

OR when the “SET” button is pushed again the timer

“ON” will be set and the Timer “OFF” will begin flashing.

f) Set the “Timer Off” time second by following instructions

in step 4a - e.

5. After completing timer set operation the “TIMER ON” and

programmed time will be displayed.

6. Once the unit has begun operating in timer mode the “TIMER

OFF” and programmed off-time will appear in the top display.

7. To turn off the programmable timer press and hold the

"TIMER" button for 3 seconds.

NOTE: If the air cleaner is turned on before timer mode begins,

the unit will remain on and “TIMER OFF” will appear on the

display. The air cleaner will still turn off as programmed.

Wireless Air Quality Center

The EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center serves as a command

center for the air cleaner. It remotely operates the air cleaner by

sending continuous signals from the EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air

Quality Center to the air cleaner. This one way communication

can be overridden by operating the controls directly on the air

cleaner. When using the EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality

Center, the yellow LED on the air cleaner will illuminate. When

operating controls directly on the air cleaner, the Yellow LED light

will turn off. To resume primary control from the EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center, press the ”ON/OFF” or “MODE” button.

The Yellow LED light on the air cleaner will again illuminate.

Operating Instructions

1. The air cleaner can be operated from either the control panel

directly on the air cleaner or the EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air

Quality Center.

2. To turn the air cleaner on, press the “ON/OFF” button on the

EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center OR press the ( )

on the air cleaner.

3. Select the desired operating speed. This Bionaire

®

Air Cleaner

has four speed settings. You can select from <<HIGH>> ( ),

<<MED>> ( ), <<LOW>> ( ) or <<SLEEP>> ( ) by

pressing the “MODE” button on either the air cleaner control

panel or the EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center.

4. The light on the control panel will illuminate letting you know the

power is on and at what speed the air cleaner is operating.

5. For optimum air filtration, it is recommended to operate the air

cleaner continuously. Its rugged motor has been designed to

provide many years of continuous use.

For continuous use, it is recommended to operate the air cleaner on

the LOW or MEDIUM setting. For quieter operation or use in a

bedroom, select the LOW or ultra-low SLEEP setting. When high

levels of air pollution are present, select the HIGH setting to quickly

circulate and filter the room air.

NIGHTLIGHT

Your EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center has a built in

nightlight which automatically turns on as your room gets dark. To

turn off this nightlight press the "+" and "-" buttons at the same

time. To turn this function back on simply press both buttons

again. NOTE: When any button is pressed the backlight will

come on for a few seconds. Once no buttons are pressed again

for 5 seconds the light will go off.

Air Quality Sensor

Air Cleaner comes with an Air Quality Sensor which

uses an advanced infrared optical system to constantly detect tiny

particles in the air around the EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality

Center such as pollen and dust. It also displays the air quality even

when the air cleaner is turned off, using a series of colored lights.

Radio frequency technology sends continuous signals between air

cleaner and the EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality sensor and

adjusts air cleaner to improve air quality wherever it is placed.

• The air quality sensor uses a series of lights to indicate air

quality conditions and particle levels. The lights range in color

from green which indicates good air quality conditions or low

levels of airborne particulate to red which shows poor air

quality conditions or high levels of airborne particulate.

• The air quality sensor operates continuously when the

EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center is plugged into a

120V AC outlet, even when the air cleaner is turned off.

Sensor Control Mode

When the EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center is in the

“Sensor Control” mode, it will automatically adjust the fan setting

to the optimum speed based on the air quality conditions and

particle levels in the air. As the particle concentration in the air

rises, so does the speed. In sensor control mode, the unit will

always run at a minimum of SLEEP speed even if the particle

levels are low to maintain ideal conditions.

1. To turn the air cleaner onto “Sensor Control” mode you must

use the EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center.

2. Turn the air cleaner on using the Operating Instructions.

Select the desired operating speed by scrolling through the

settings using the “MODE” button. You can select from “HI”,

“MED”, “LOW”, “SLEEP” or “Sensor Control”.

3. Once in “Sensor Control” mode, the air cleaner speed will

fluctuate depending on airborne particulate concentration.

NOTE: The Sensor Control mode can not be controlled from the

air cleaner control panel. It can only be controlled using the

EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality Center.

CLEANING/MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

Air Cleaner Maintenance Instructions

Turn off and unplug the unit before cleaning.

1. The outside of the air cleaner can be cleaned with a soft,

damp cloth.

2. The filtered air outlet/top air vent can be cleaned of dust with

a small, soft brush.

3. You can remove the air inlet/front grill for cleaning by open the

door of the air cleaner. Carefully placing fingers in the indentation

on the right side of the door and gently pull forward. With

door open to 90 degrees pull grill up and forward. Once

removed front grill can be cleaned with warm soapy water. Do

not place in dishwasher. Make sure the grill is completely dry

before reinstalling. (Figure 3)

4. If you wish to clean the inside of the

air purifier, please remove filters and

only use a dry, soft cloth to wipe it

down.

5. DO NOT wash HEPA or CARBON

filters.

WARNING: Do not allow moisture to

come in contact with the main housing

of the air cleaner.

Pre-Filter Cleaning Instructions

1. Every 2-3 weeks check the conditions of the washable foam

pre-filter.

2. Open the front door and remove the pre-filter frame to exam-

ine the pre-filter. (see figure 3)

3. If the pre-filter has a noticeable amount of dust, lint or particu-

late accumulation, wash it by hand in warm soapy water. The

pre-filter must be washed at least every 30 days or more

often as necessary. If the pre-filter is worn or damaged

replace it. DO NOT wash in an automatic washer. Gently hand

wash only.

4. After washing, rinse and dry the pre-filter thoroughly before

replacing it into the air cleaner door. DO NOT dry the pre-filter

in an automatic dryer. Hand dry only by dabbing gently with a

hand dry cloth towel.

5. Replace pre-filter in door and latch pre-filter frame (see figure 4).

Filter Life Indicators

The HEPA Filter life indicator uses a

series of lights to give you an

indication of the remaining filter life. With

new filters, the lights on the air cleaner

display will be illuminated green. As filter

life progresses the filter life indicator will

move to yellow. When the filter light is

red, it is time to change the HEPA filters.

There is also a carbon filter indicator light

on the air cleaner control panel. When this light illuminates red, it

is time to change the Carbon filters.

FILTER REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS

On average, HEPA filters need to be replaced every 12-18 months.

Carbon filters need to be replaced every 3-6 months. Filter life will

vary depending on air quality and usage.

1. Turn off and unplug your air cleaner before attempting to

replace the filters.

2. Remove each of the filters from the unit by pulling gently

towards you.

3. To replace the carbon filter, simply remove the old carbon filter

and using the plastic tabs as a guideline (see Figure 1), insert

a new carbon filter in its place after removing the plastic bag.

4. To replace the HEPA filter, discard the old HEPA filters. DO

NOT attempt to clean. Put the carbon filter back on the new

HEPA filter. Insert the new HEPA filter into the unit, by sliding it

on the hang tabs (see Figure 2).

5. After replacing the filters, RESET the appropriate Filter Life

Indicator by inserting a small object (such as a pin or paper

clip) into the hole below the filter change light. The series of

LED lights is the HEPA ( ) filter indicator and the red LED is

the carbon ( ) filter light.

NOTE: The side with the soft gasket should face

inward.Replacement filters are available from your local suppli-

er or by calling 1-800-253-2764.

Air Quality Sensor Cleaning Instructions

It is recommended that you clean the air quality sensor monthly to

maintain accurate monitoring or particulate levels.

1. The air quality sensor is located on the back

side of the EnviroCheck

TM

Wireless Air Quality

Center.

2. Open the sensor door (Figure 5)

3. Use a dry cotton swab to gently clean the

sensor lens. Do not use any water or cleaning

agents.

4. Securely close the sensor door. If it is not closed the sensor

may not operate properly.

TROUBLESHOOTING

SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS

1. Do NOT attempt to repair or adjust any electrical or mechani-

cal functions on this unit. Doing so will void the warranty. The

inside of the unit contains no user serviceable parts. All servic-

ing should be performed by qualified personnel only.

2. If you need to exchange the unit, please return it in its original

carton, with a sales receipt, to the store where you purchased

it. If you are returning the unit more than 30 days after the

date of purchase, please see the enclosed warranty.

TWO (2) YEARS FULL WARRANTY

Manufacturer warrants for TWO (2) YEARS from the date or

original purchase, to repair or, if repairs are not commercially

applicable to replace without charge (parts and labor), any

supplied or manufactured part of this air cleaner which, upon

inspection by an authorized service center, proves to have failed

in normal use due to defects in material or workmanship, or, at its

option, to replace the unit. If the product can not be reasonably
