Before using this appliance ensure that the voltage of your electricity supply is
suitable for that indicated on the rating plate of the appliance.
THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED.
The ultimate disconnection from the power source is the mains plug. Always make
sure it is easily accessible to be unplugged in the event of an emergency.
This appliance is tted with a fused three pin mains plug to BS 1363 which will be
suitable for use in all houses tted with mains sockets to current specications.
If the tted mains plug is not suitable, remove the fuse and dispose of the mains
plug safely, immediately after removing it from the mains cable.
Fitting a new mains plug
If for any reason you need to t a new mains plug, the mains cable must be
connected as shown here. The wires in the mains cable tted to this appliance are
coloured in accordance with the following code:
If the colours of the wires in the mains cable of this appliance do not correspond
with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your mains plug, proceed as
follows:
The wire which is coloured
• Green and Yellow: MUST be connected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter E (Earth) or symbol or coloured Green.
• Blue: MUST be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N
(Neutral) or coloured Blue or Black.
• Brown MUST be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L (Live)
or coloured Brown or Red.
Before retting the mains plug cover, check that there are no cut or stray strands of
wire inside the mains plug. Only BSI or ASTA approved 3 Amp BS1362 fuses should
be used. If you are in any way unsure which mains plug or fuse to use, always refer to
a qualied electrician.
Note: After replacing or changing a fuse on a moulded mains plug which has a fuse
cover, the cover must be retted to the mains plug, the appliance must not be used
without a fuse cover. If lost, replacement fuse covers can be obtained from an
electrical shop.

Using Your Slow Cooker for the First Time
IMPORTANT:
When switched on for the rst time the appliance may emit a slight odour. This is
normal and will disperse within a few minutes.
• Wash the ceramic cooking pot and glass lid in hot soapy water. Rinse well in
clear water and dry carefully.
• Wipe the cooker body with a damp cloth containing a trace of dilute detergent.
Remove all traces of detergent with a cloth damped with clean water. Dry
thoroughly.
• Check that the voltage marked on the rating plate at the bottom of the
appliance is the same as the voltage in your area.
Electrical Information
• Check the cooking pot and the lid have no cracks or other visible signs of
damage.
• CAUTION: The supplied cooking pot is designed for use solely with this slow
cooker.
• Do not place the pot in a hot oven or on top of a regular cooking appliance.
• Do not set the pot when heated on a wet or cold surface - Use a heat proof mat.
• Never use a cracked container.
• Only use this cooker with its supplied cook pot and components.
• Ensure there are no objects in the cooker body.
• Ensure the temperature knob is set to ‘OFF’.
• Wipe the exterior of the cooking pot and place it in the cooker body.
• Ensure the slow cooker is stable and well-supported by the work surface.
• Put the food in the cooking pot with sufficient water to ensure the food does
not dry out.
• Cover the pot with the glass lid.
• Plug the slow cooker into the mains socket and switch on at the mains.
The ceramic casserole dish supplied with this slow cooker must not be
used in a conventional oven, on a cooking hob, in a microwave oven or on
any form of direct heat other than within this slow cooker.
Use oven glove when handling hot utensils or touching hot surfaces!
There are four operation settings:
• OFF: Switches the slow cooker off.
• LOW: Can also be used for heating up cooked food.
• HIGH: The normal slow-cooking setting. Cooking
time is around 7-8 hours.
• WARM: Keeps recently cooked food warm.
• Switch the cooker to a suitable operation setting, as recommended in your
recipe.
The mains indicator will light up showing that the appliance now is operational.
During Cooking:
• Occasionally check the food to ensure that there is enough liquid in the pot to
avoid it boiling dry.
When cooking is complete:
• Turn the temperature to WARM if you want to keep the food warm. Do not keep
food warm for more than 4 hours, because of the danger of bacterial infection.
• When the food is ready to serve, turn the temperature control to OFF and then
switch off and unplug the cooker at the mains.
• Remove the pot before serving out the contents.
• Always ensure that your food is hot and thoroughly cooked before serving.
Under cooked or insufficiently heated food presents a health risk.
