cord, plug, power base, or electric kettle

6. Unplug from outlet when kettle is not in

use and before cleaning. Allow to cool

before putting on or taking off parts, and

before cleaning the appliance.

7. Do not operate any appliance with a

damaged supply cord or plug, or after

the appliance malfunctions or has been

dropped or damaged in any manner.

Supply cord replacement and repairs

must be conducted by the manufacturer,

its service agent, or similarly qualified

persons in order to avoid a hazard.

information on examination, repair, or

adjustment as set forth in the Limited

Warranty.

8. The use of attachments not

recommended or sold by the appliance

manufacturer may cause fire, electric

shock, or personal injury.

9. Do not use outdoors.

10. Do not let cord hang over edge of

table or counter, or touch hot surfaces,

including the stove.

11. Do not place electric kettle on or near a

hot gas or electric burner or in a heated

oven.

12. To disconnect electric kettle, turn any

control to off by pressing start/stop and

then remove plug from wall outlet. To

unplug, grasp the plug and pull from the

outlet. Never pull from the power cord.

13. Do not use appliance for other than

intended use.

14. Do not use for other than heating water.

Other liquids or food will contaminate

the interior and void warranty.

15. Do not allow kettle to boil dry.

16. To avoid circuit overload, do not operate

another high-wattage appliance on the

same circuit.

17. Heater may remain hot after the kettle is

turned off.

18. WARNING: If the kettle is overfilled,

boiling water may be ejected.

19. WARNING: Scalding may occur if the lid

is opened during the heating cycle.

20. Be certain kettle lid is securely in place

during operation and when pouring hot

water.

21. Use only the power base provided.

This appliance is intended for household use only.

w WARNING

Electrical Shock Hazard:

This appliance is provided with either a

polarized (one wide blade) or grounded

(3-prong) plug to reduce the risk of electric

shock. Do not defeat the safety purpose of

the plug by modifying the plug in any way

or by using an adapter. If it still does not fit,

have an electrician replace the outlet.

The length of the cord used on this

appliance was selected to reduce the

hazards of becoming tangled in or tripping

over a longer cord. If a longer cord is

necessary, an approved extension cord

may be used. The electrical rating of the

extension cord must be equal to or greater

than the rating of the appliance. Care must

be taken to arrange the extension cord so

that it will not drape over the countertop

or tabletop where it can be pulled on by

children or accidentally tripped over.

To avoid an electrical circuit overload, do

not use another high-wattage appliance on

the same circuit with this appliance.

How to Use

w WARNING

Burn Hazard. Do not overfill kettle. Boiling water may spit out of the spout.

Before first use: Remove sticker from Display. Press Open Lid Release Button to lift Lid and fill Kettle

with water to MAX fill line (1.7 L). Press Lid down to secure in place and add Kettle to Base. Press

START/STOP Button to turn Kettle on, and then press MODE Button to select Black Tea/Boil. Kettle will

bring water to boil and shut off automatically. Discard water and repeat 3 times, rinsing out Kettle each

time. Kettle is now ready for use. Discard water and repeat 2–3 times, rinsing out Kettle each time. The

Kettle is now ready for use.

1. Press Open Lid Release Button to lift Lid to

add water to Kettle. Do not fill above MAX fill

line (1.7 L). Push Lid down to close.

2. Make sure Base is on a level surface. Place

Kettle on Base.

3. Plug into outlet. Kettle will beep.

4. Press START/STOP Button, then press MODE

Button to select type with corresponding

temperature. Kettle will automatically begin

to heat water. Once selected temperature is

reached, Kettle will beep 3 times and switch

to Keep Warm for 30 minutes. During this

time Kettle will keep heating to maintain

selected temperature. After 30 minutes

Kettle will automatically turn off. Display will

automatically turn off after 5 minutes.

NOTE: START/STOP Button can be pressed at

any time to turn Kettle off.

5. Pour hot water into desired mug or cup.

6. Unplug.

NOTE: Only use Kettle to heat water. If Kettle is used to heat other liquids, such as coffee or tea, the

warranty will be voided.

Keep Warm Function:

Kettle automatically switches to Keep Warm for 30 minutes when selected temperature has been

reached. During this time Kettle will keep heating to maintain selected temperature. If Kettle is removed

from Base, Kettle will turn off. Press START/STOP Button to return to selected temperature and Kettle

will start heating. Keep Warm Function does not maintain a boil at 212°F (100°C). It will maintain 200°F

(93°C).

If Kettle Floor Discolors:

It is normal for stainless steel heating elements to discolor. This does not affect the performance

of Kettle. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or cleaners since this may damage the stainless steel

surface.

If Kettle Boils Dry:

The heating element is protected by two automatic safety devices. If your Kettle is accidentally

switched on without being filled with water, or is allowed to boil dry, Kettle will automatically switch off.

You should:

• Unplug Kettle and wait about 20 minutes for element to cool down.

• Refill Kettle; then use as normal and check that Kettle functions correctly. Remove Kettle from Base

and place back on Base. Press START/STOP Button, then press MODE Button to select desired tea

setting.

If Kettle Does Not Work:

• If Black Tea/Boil was selected and Kettle does not boil, it might need descaling (see “Care and

Cleaning” section).

• Has Kettle been accidentally turned on without being filled with water, or allowed to boil dry?

Remove Kettle from Base and add water. Place Kettle back on Base and press START/STOP Button. If

Kettle doesn’t turn on, wait 20 minutes, and try again.

• Is cord firmly plugged into outlet and Kettle firmly seated in Base?

NOTE: These temperature settings can vary depending on a number of factors, such as altitude,

impurities in the water, and the amount of water in the Kettle.

Tea Guide

• Bring filtered or good-tasting tap water to a boil in Kettle. Use 6 ounces (177 mL) of water per cup of

tea.

• If using loose tea instead of tea bags, measure 1 rounded teaspoon of tea per cup into an infuser

and place infuser in cup. If no infuser is available, put tea directly into cup.

• Pour heated water directly over tea. For stronger tea, add more leaves rather than infusing longer

than is recommended.

• Tea that is oversteeped will become bitter.

Care and Cleaning

w WARNING

Electrical Shock Hazard. Do not immerse kettle, power base, or plug in water

or any other liquid.

w WARNING

Burn Hazard. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or powders since they may

scratch the smooth surface of the kettle.

1. With Kettle unplugged, empty any remaining

water and rinse. Allow Kettle to cool

completely.

2. Wipe the exterior of Kettle with a damp cloth

and dry. Do not use abrasive scouring pads

or powders since they may scratch smooth

surface of Kettle.

To remove discoloration or scale/lime deposit from inside Kettle:

1. Unplug.

2. Pour 1 tablespoon white vinegar and 1/4 cup

(59 mL) water into Kettle and let stand 10

minutes.

OR

Place 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 mL) cream of tartar

(available in the spice aisle of grocery store)

into Kettle. Then fill Kettle 1/2 full with water.

Plug into outlet, press START/STOP Button,

and bring to boil. Press START/STOP Button.

Unplug and let cool. Rinse several times with

clean tap water.

3. Rub Kettle floor with a paper towel. Remove

paper towel and vinegar.

4. Wash with soap and water, and then rinse and

dry.

TIP: To avoid scale/lime deposit buildup,

empty Kettle after each use.

Utilisation

w AVERTISSEMENT

Risque de brûlures. Ne pas trop remplit la bouilloire. L’eau brûlante

peut jaillir hors du bec.

Avant la première utilisation : Retirer l’autocollant de l’écran. Appuyer sur le bouton d’ouverture du

couvercle pour soulever le couvercle et remplir la bouilloire d’eau jusqu’à la ligne de remplissage MAX

(1,7 l). Appuyer sur le couvercle pour le fixer en place et déposer la bouilloire sur la base. Appuyer

sur le bouton START/STOP (marche/arrêt) pour allumer la bouilloire, puis sur le bouton MODE pour

choisir le mode Black Tea/Boil (thé noir/ébullition). La bouilloire portera l’eau à ébullition et s’éteindra

automatiquement. Jeter l’eau et répéter l’opération trois fois en rinçant la bouilloire chaque fois. La

bouilloire est maintenant prête à être utilisée. Jeter l’eau et répéter cette étape 2 à 3 fois en rinçant

chaque fois la bouilloire. La bouilloire est maintenant prête à utiliser.

sélectionnée. Après 30 minutes, la bouilloire

s’éteindra automatiquement après 5 minutes.

REMARQUE : La bouilloire peut être éteinte

REMARQUE : N’utiliser la bouilloire que pour faire bouillir de l’eau. La garantie est annulée si la

Fonction Keep Warm (réchaud) :

La bouilloire passe automatiquement en mode Keep Warm (réchaud) durant 30 minutes une fois la

température sélectionnée atteinte. Durant ce temps, la bouilloire continuera de chauffer pour maintenir

la température sélectionnée. Si la bouilloire est retirée de la base, elle s’éteindra. Appuyer sur le bouton

START/STOP (marche/arrêt) pour revenir à la température sélectionnée; la bouilloire recommencera à

chauffer. La fonction Keep Warm (réchaud) ne maintient pas la température d’ébullition de 100 °C

(212 °F). Elle maintiendra une température de 93 °C (200 °F).

Si le fond de la bouilloire se décolore :

L’acier inoxydable des éléments chauffants décoloré est normal. Ceci ne nuit pas au fonctionnement

de la bouilloire. Ne pas utiliser de tampons à récurer ou nettoyants, car ils pourraient endommager la

surface en acier inoxydable.

Si la bouilloire a chauffé à vide :

L’élément chauffant est protégé par deux dispositifs de sécurité automatiques. Si votre bouilloire est

allumée par accident sans qu’elle soit remplie d’eau, ou si l’eau bout jusqu’à évaporation complète, la

bouilloire s’éteindra automatiquement. Quoi faire :

• Débrancher la bouilloire et laisser refroidir l’élément pendant environ 20 minutes.

• Remplir la bouilloire à nouveau, puis l’utiliser comme à l’habitude en vérifiant qu’elle fonctionne

correctement. Retirer la bouilloire de la base et la replacer sur la base. Appuyer sur le bouton

START/STOP (marche/arrêt), puis sur le bouton MODE pour sélectionner le réglage de thé souhaité.

Si la bouilloire ne fonctionne pas :

• Si le mode Black Tea/Boil (thé noir/ébullition) a été sélectionné, mais que l’eau ne bout pas, la

bouilloire devrait peut-être être décalcifiée (voir le chapitre « Entretien et nettoyage »).

• Est-ce que la bouilloire a été accidentellement mise sous tension sans eau ou a-t-elle chauffé à

vide ? Retirer la bouilloire de la base et y ajouter l’eau. Replacer la bouilloire sur la base et appuyer

sur le bouton START/STOP (marche/arrêt). Si la bouilloire ne s’allume pas, attendre 20 minutes et

recommencer.

• Le cordon est-il fermement branché dans la prise murale et est-ce que la bouilloire est bien installée

sur son base ?
