are designed to give effective operation and a long service life. The package

1 fire extinguisher, 1 wall mount bracket, user manual.
SELF-INSPECTION
When unpacking the extinguisher, please check that the manometer needle
is in the green sector. Check that the safety pin is present and sealed. Check
manometer pressure regularly and at least once a month.
APPLICATIONS
Your new Firephant fire extinguisher contains an ABC powder that extinguish-
es fires in a variety of materials such as wood, paper, textiles, inflammable
liquids and chemicals. It can also be used on fires in electrical installations of
up to 1000 volts. You should always keep a safety distance of at least 1 metre
when extinguishing fires in electrical installations.
HOW DOES THE POWDER EXTINGUISHER WORK?
ABC powder reacts chemically with the fire. The powder prevents the chemi-
cal chain reactions that fire depends on. One of the greatest advantages to
using powder is its good extinguishing effect even while using a small quantity
of powder, compared to other extinguishing agents. To prevent the fire from
rekindling in, e.g., woodwork, paper and textiles, it might be necessary to
douse it with water.
TO OPERATE YOUR EXTINGUISHER:
1. Pull out the safety pin
2. Aim the nozzle at the base of the fire
3. Squeeze the release button
4. Sweep the nozzle across the base of the fire until it is fully extinguished.
POSITIONING
The extinguisher is shipped with a wall mount bracket. If the extinguisher is
to be placed outdoors or in a contaminated environment then it should be in a
cabinet designed for fire extinguishers. The extinguisher should be in an eas-
ily accessible and visible place.
MAINTENANCE AND CONTROL
Visual inspections by the owner should be carried out regularly and at least
once a month. When carrying out the visual inspection, be ensured that:
• The extinguisher is correctly located in the designated place;
• The extinguisher has not been operated and is not obviously damaged or
has any missing parts;
• That the reading of the pressure gauges or indicator is in the green sec-
tor.
MAINTENANCE OF THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER MUST BE CARRIED OUT AC-
CORDING TI BS 5306-3:2009
The extinguisher must always be recharged after any use. Recharging re-
quires special equipment and training, contact your nearest dealer. Use only
Firephant specified powder and spare parts.
