switch on the appliance again.
As in the majority of the devices for aerosol therapy, at the end of the inhalation, a given
quantity of drug (about 0.2 ml) will remain in the nebulization chamber: this is quite normal.
This quantity of drug, also called residual volume, cannot be nebulized.
9) Let the device cool down for some minutes, turn the device upside down or use an absorbing
cloth to remove the residual liquid and perform the cleaning procedures according to paragraph
“Cleaning and maintenance”.
Caution:
Do not try to switch on the device, if the drug has run out, since this may
cause damages.
If the charge of batteries is low, the device switches off automatically after
short time, also when in the atomization chamber there is still some drug
for inhalation.
Batteries charge diminishes also when the device is not used; therefore, remove batteries,
if the device is not used for long periods.
Do not dispose exhaust batteries as ordinary waste, but use exclusively the special battery
waste containers.
The atomisation chamber is a consumable and its useful life depends on many factors: Time of
use, use with more or less oily medicinal products, as well as correct maintenance and cleaning
of the same after each use. The atomisation chamber can be used for 500 times or for a period of
use with a standard therapy equal to 1 year.
USE WITH TRANSFORMER FOR OPERATION THROUGH MAINS
(NOT INCLUDED IN STANDARD SUPPLY)
This appliance can be used with 4 1.5 V alkaline batteries, or with the transformer (not included
in the standard supply) for use through connection to the mains.
To purchase the transformer, apply to your dealer.
Lift the rubber membrane protecting the outlet on the bottom of the product.
Connect the transformer to the appliance (outlet for operation through mains) and then connect
the outlet paying attention to verify that voltage is correct.
Caution:
Use exclusively the transformer supplied by LAICA SpA. Other transformers may damage the
appliance.
MICROBIAL CONTAMINATION
In presence of pathologies with risks of infection and contamination, a personal use of the accessories
is suggested (always consult the physician).
CLEANING
1) Caution! Hot surface!
Before performing the cleaning of the device, let it cool down since the transducer
and the residual inhalation preparation become hot during the use.
Always clean the appliance after each use in order not to let the residual medicinal products
solidify and damage the mechanism.
2) Before performing the cleaning, remove batteries or, in case of operation through mains,
disconnect the power supply plug.
Make sure the rubber membrane placed on the bottom of the device is closed to prevent any
liquid penetration.
3) Remove the appliance cover and lift the cover of the atomisation chamber to discharge possible
residuals from the chamber itself. Clean the atomisation chamber and the atomisation supplier
as follows:
- disconnect the atomisation chamber from the appliance by pressing both hooks located
on the bottom of the chamber itself (See fig. 5). Leave the atomisation supplier connected
to the atomisation chamber;
- pour 8 ml of ethyl alcohol in the atomisation chamber; let it act for 10 minutes and then
slightly shake the atomisation chamber. Remove ethyl alcohol.
- pour 8 ml of water in the atomisation chamber; let it act for 10 minutes and then slightly
shake the atomisation chamber. Remove water.
- disconnect the atomisation supplier from the atomisation chamber by unscrewing it counter-
clockwise and rinse it under running water. Rinse also the atomisation chamber under
running water.
- use a cotton fioc
®
moistened with ethyl alcohol to clean the two golden screws present in
the atomisation supplier. Rinse again under running water and let dry. After the cleaning,
screw the atomisation supplier clockwise to the atomisation chamber until the two hooks
match. (Pay attention to the two golden screws, which have to be positioned downwards).
Before hooking the atomisation chamber to the main unit, make sure that it is perfectly dry.
To assemble it again to the appliance, place it on the main unit and press it slightly downwards
until a “click” is heard.
4) Clean the external part of the appliance using a soft cloth moistened with water and neutral
soap (Do not clean the main unit placing it under running water and pay attention that no liquid
enters the appliance).
5) It is suggested to disinfect the accessories after each use to limit the risk of infections. In this
case, place mouthpiece, connection part, and marks under running water and then in a 1/4
distilled water and 3/4 alcohol solution for 10 minutes; then, rinse them and let them fully dry
before using them again.
Rinse them and let them fully dry before using them again.
6) Disinfect all components, also before using the device for the first time.
7) The device, atomization chamber and all accessories must be completely dry before their use.
8) Store the device and all its accessories in a fresh and dry place in the standard supplied case.
