IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should

always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or

injury to persons, including the following:

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children)

with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of

experience and knowledge, unless they are closely supervised and

instructed concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible

customer service number for information on examination, repair, or

adjustment.

The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the

appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.

Use only the carafe provided with the appliance.

Do not use outdoors.

Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot

surfaces, including stove.

The carafe is designed for use with this coffeemaker. It must never

be used on a range top or in a microwave oven.

Do not set a hot carafe on a wet or cold surface.

15.

Do not use a cracked carafe or one with loose or weakened handle.

16.

Do not clean carafe with cleansers, steel wool pads,or other

abrasive materials.

17.

Be certain carafe lid is securely in place during brew cycle and

when pouring coffee. Do not use force when placing lid on carafe.

18.

Do not place coffeemaker on or near a hot gas or electric burner or

in a heated oven.

19.

To disconnect coffee maker, turn controls to OFF ( ) and then

remove plug from wall outlet. To unplug, grasp the plug and pull

from the outlet. Never pull from the power cord.

Do not use appliance for other than intended use

21.

WARNING! To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not

remove the bottom cover. No user-serviceable parts are inside.

Repair should be done by authorized service personnel only.

Keep-Hot plate may remain hot after the coffee maker is turned off.

This appliance is intended for household use only.

w WARNING

Shock Hazard: This appliance has a polarized plug (one

wide blade) that reduces the risk of electric shock. The plug fits only one

way into a polarized outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the plug

by modifying the plug in any way or by using an adapter. If the plug does

not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, have an

electrician replace the outlet.

The length of the cord used on this appliance was selected to reduce the

hazards of becoming tangled in or tripping over a longer cord. If a longer

cord is necessary, an approved extension cord may be used. The electrical

rating of the extension cord must be equal to or greater than the rating of

the appliance. Care must be taken to arrange the extension cord so that it

will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by

Digital clock timer (on select models)

To Set Clock:

1.

Plug in coffeemaker. Numbers on clock will flash until you set time of day.

2. To set time of day, press H (hour) button to set current hour. AM or PM

will be displayed.

3. Press M (minute) button until you reach the current time.

How to program auto brew

1. Make sure clock is set for correct time of day.

2. Fill coffeemaker with desired amount of water and coffee. Place carafe

with lid on keep-hot plate. Close lid.

3. Hold PROG (program) button and press H and M buttons until desired

brewing start time is reached. Then release PROG and current time is

displayed.

4. Press AUTO to set auto brew. A green light on the AUTO button indicates

that auto brew is set.

5. Press AUTO again to cancel automatic brew.

Features

Pause ’N Serve

This feature allows you to pour a cup of coffee before the entire

brew cycle has completed. By removing the carafe, the flow of coffee

will temporarily stop. The flow of coffee will resume when carafe is

returned to the base.

w WARNING

Burn Hazard. Return carafe to base within 20

seconds. Hot water continues to flow into filter basket when this

feature is used. Overflowing coffee and hot water are a burn hazard.

Inside of coffeemaker

1. Place empty carafe on keep-hot plate. Close lid.

2. Pour one pint of plain white vinegar into water reservoir.

3. Plug unit into electrical outlet.

4. Press the ON/OFF button to turn on. After 30 seconds, turn OFF. Wait 30

minutes to allow the vinegar to clean. Then turn ON again. When finished,

let cool.

5. Empty carafe and rinse. Pour one carafe of cold tap water into

water reservoir. Place carafe on keep-hot plate. Close lid.

6. Press ON/OFF button to turn on. When the brew cycle is complete, empty

carafe. Allow to cool, then repeat with one more carafe of cold tap water.

7. Wash carafe and filter basket before making a beverage.

1.

Wash carafe in hot, soapy water or on top rack of dishwasher.

2.

To remove carafe lid, push hinge part of lid to one side and then gently

but firmly twist lid. The pin will release from hinge. To

replace lid, put one side of lid hinge on one of pins; then snap

onto other pin.

3.

To remove filter basket, open lid and lift straight up. Filter basket may be

washed by hand or in top rack of dishwasher.

Care and cleaning

Préparation du café

w AVERTISSEMENT

Pour éviter le débordement de café chaud du panier-filtre :

• Lors de l’utilisation d’un café décaféiné, ne dépassez pas les quantités

recommandées par le fabricant de café.

• Appuyer fermement sur le couvercle pour s’assurer que celui-ci est bien

fermé.

Si le panier-filtre déborde, débrancher la cafetière et laisser refroidir le

contenu du panier-filtre avant de retirer le panier-filtre.

Avant la première utilisation, nettoyer la cafetière en suivant les étapes

énumérées au chapitre « Entretien et nettoyage ». Voir le chapitre «

Intérieur de la cafetière ».

2.

Placer le panier-filtre dans le puits du panier-filtre. Insérer l’onglet dans

l’ouverture gauche. S’assurer que le panier-filtre est bien installé.

3.

Placer un filtre panier en papier dans le panier-filtre. Un filtre à café

réutilisable peut être utilisé.

4.

Déposer une cuillère à soupe rase de café par tasse de café à

préparer dans le filtre.

5.

Burn Hazard.

To avoid hot coffee overflowing from the filter basket:

• When using decaffeinated coffee, do not exceed the coffee

manufacturer’s recommended serving amount.

• Press firmly on lid to ensure the lid is completely closed.

If filter basket overflow occurs, unplug coffeemaker and allow coffee in filter

basket to cool before removing filter basket.

1. Before first use, clean coffeemaker by following steps listed in “Care and

cleaning.” See “Inside of coffeemaker” section.

2. Place filter basket in filter basket well. Insert thumb handle in the left open-

ing. Ensure filter basket is fully seated.

3. Place a cupcake-style paper filter in filter basket. A permanent filter may

also be used.

4. For each cup of coffee being made, place one level tablespoon of coffee

into filter.

5. Fill carafe with the desired amount of cold tap water.

6. Lift lid and pour water from carafe into water reservoir.

NOTE: Do not fill past 12-cup mark (54 ounces) for glass carafe or 10-cup

mark (45 ounces) for thermal carafe.

7. Place carafe, with carafe lid attached, on keep-hot plate.

8. Close lid. Press firmly on lid to ensure that it is completely closed.

9. For switch models: Turn switch to ON. A lighted switch indicates

coffeemaker is on. Turn switch to OFF and unplug when finished.

For clock models: Press ON/OFF button to start. An illuminated red light

on the ON/OFF button indicates coffeemaker is on. Press ON/OFF

again to turn off and unplug when finished.

NOTE: For programmable models, see “How to program auto brew.”

For non-clock models with automatic shutoff: Press and release ON/OFF

switch. Red light illuminates to indicate the coffeemaker is on. Press and release

switch again to turn coffeemaker off and unplug when finished.

How to make coffee

This warranty applies to products purchased and used in the U.S. and Canada. This is the

only express warranty for this product and is in lieu of any other warranty or condition.

This product is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period

of three (3) years from the date of original purchase. During this period, your exclusive

remedy is repair or replacement of this product or any component found to be defective,

at our option; however, you are responsible for all costs associated with returning the

product to us and our returning a product or component under this warranty to you. If the

product or component is no longer available, we will replace with a similar one of equal or

greater value.

This warranty does not cover glass, filters, wear from normal use, use not in conformity

with the printed directions, or damage to the product resulting from accident, alteration,

abuse, or misuse. This warranty extends only to the original consumer purchaser or gift

recipient. Keep the original sales receipt, as proof of purchase is required to make a

warranty claim. This warranty is void if the product is used for other than single-family

household use or subjected to any voltage and waveform other than as specified on the

rating label (e.g., 120V ~ 60 Hz).

We exclude all claims for special, incidental, and consequential damages caused by

breach of express or implied warranty. All liability is limited to the amount of the purchase

price. Every implied warranty, including any statutory warranty or condition of

merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, is disclaimed except to the

extent prohibited by law, in which case such warranty or condition is limited to the

With the coffeemaker unplugged, wipe outside with a soft cloth and warm,

soapy water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, as they will scratch the finish of

the product.
