Nee, de wijnklimaatkast moet eerst tenminste 4 uur rechtop staan voordat hij aangezet kan worden. Dit komt omdat de koelvloeistof eerst moet uitzakken.

Dit hangt af van het formaat, de leeftijd en het model van de koelkast. Het kan enkele uren tot een etmaal duren voordat de koelkast de ingestelde temperatuur bereikt. Het proces kan wel versneld worden door alvast niet-bederfelijke waren in de koelkast te leggen. De temperatuur is niet goed te voelen aan de lucht in de koelkast. De beste manier om te zien of de koelkast al op temperatuur is, is door een glas water met een thermometer in de koelkast te plaatsen.
