IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to

reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

1. Read all instructions.

2. This appliance is not intended for use

by persons (including children) with

reduced physical, sensory, or mental

capabilities, or lack of experience and

knowledge, unless they are closely

supervised and instructed concerning

use of the appliance by a person

responsible for their safety.

3. Close supervision is necessary when any

appliance is used by or near children.

Cleaning and user maintenance shall

not be made by children without

supervision. Children should be

supervised to ensure that they do not

play with the appliance.

4. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles

or knobs. Care must be taken, as burns

can occur from touching hot parts or

from spilled, hot liquid.

5. To protect against electric shock, do

not place cord, plug, or coffee maker in

water or other liquid.

6. Unplug from outlet when the coffee

maker is not in use and before cleaning.

Allow to cool before putting on or

taking off parts and before cleaning the

appliance.

7. Coffee maker must be operated on a flat

surface away from the edge of counter

to prevent accidental tipping.

8. Do not operate any appliance with a

damaged supply cord or plug, or after

the appliance malfunctions or has been

dropped or damaged in any manner.

Supply cord replacement and repairs

must be conducted by the manufacturer,

its service agent, or similarly qualified

persons in order to avoid a hazard.

information on examination, repair, or

adjustment as set forth in the Limited

Warranty.

9. The use of accessory attachments

not recommended by the appliance

manufacturer may cause injuries.

10. Do not use outdoors.

11. Do not let cord hang over edge of

table or counter or touch hot surfaces,

including stove.

12. Do not place coffee maker on or near a

hot gas or electric burner or in a heated

oven.

13. To cancel brewing cycle or disconnect

coffee maker, remove plug from wall

outlet. To unplug, grasp the plug and

pull from the outlet. Never pull from the

power cord.

14. WARNING! To reduce the risk of fire

or electric shock, do not remove the

bottom cover. No user-serviceable parts

are inside. Repair should be done by

authorized service personnel only.

15. Do not use appliance for other than

intended use.

16. Do not place coffee maker in a cabinet

when in use.

17. Scalding may occur if the lid is lifted

during the brewing cycle.

This appliance is intended for household use only.

w WARNING

Electrical Shock Hazard:

This appliance is provided with a polarized

plug (one wide blade) to reduce the risk of

electric shock. The plug fits only one way

into a polarized outlet. Do not defeat the

safety purpose of the plug by modifying

the plug in any way or by using an adapter.

If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet,

reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, have

an electrician replace the outlet.

The length of the cord used on this

appliance was selected to reduce the

hazards of becoming tangled in or tripping

over a longer cord. If a longer cord is

necessary, an approved extension cord

may be used. The electrical rating of the

extension cord must be equal to or greater

than the rating of the appliance. Care must

be taken to arrange the extension cord so

that it will not drape over the countertop

or tabletop where it can be pulled on by

children or accidentally tripped over.

To avoid an electrical circuit overload, do

not use another high-wattage appliance on

the same circuit with this appliance.

How to Use

w WARNING

Burn Hazard.

• If overflow occurs, unplug coffee maker and allow to cool.

• To avoid overflow, keep ground coffee below MAX fill, ensuring lid is completely closed.

• Fully insert travel mug onto drip tray cover or cup onto cup rest.

Before first use: Wash all removable parts in hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry. Brew one cycle with water

and discard water.

1. Plug into outlet.

2. To Fill Water Reservoir, lift Hinged Lid and add

tap water or filtered water to MIN line,

8 oz./237 mL or MAX line, 14 oz./414 mL.

3. Close Water Reservoir Lid.

4. Use Lid Tab to lift up Lid. Hold The Scoop

®

Handle and remove The Scoop

®

to add ground

coffee. Scoop coffee grounds directly into The

Scoop

®

. Do not fill ground coffee above MAX

fill. Measure coffee in following way:

• 8 oz cup = 1 1/2 tablespoons (8 g) ground

coffee

• 14 oz cup = MAX 3 tablespoons (15 g)

ground coffee

NOTE: To get perfect tasting coffee, adjust

measurements up or down accordingly.

5. Add The Scoop

®

, aligning handle with slot in

Grounds Catcher, and firmly lower Lid until it

clicks into place.

6. Press BREW Button and white Brewing

Indicator Light will turn on. Coffee Maker

will automatically shut off after brew cycle is

complete. To stop brewing before brewing is

complete, unplug Coffee Maker. Always allow

2 minutes to cool in between brews.

NOTES:

• If there is no water in Water Reservoir, white

Brewing Indicator Light will remain on and

Coffee Maker will not brew. Add water to Water

Reservoir and press BREW Button to start

brewing.

• When using whole bean coffee, a medium

automatic drip coffee grind will yield best results.

Be careful not to overgrind, since very finely

ground coffee can cause overflow.

• Always add Grounds Catcher before adding The

Scoop

®

.

• Add only cold water to Water Reservoir.

• Allow 2 minutes to cool in between brews.

Tips:

• For hotter coffee, rinse mug or travel mug with

warm water before brewing.

• More coffee grounds is not better. Overfilling The

Scoop

®

does not allow room for brewing. Water

can overflow and weak coffee will dispense into

cup.

• Do not pack your grounds. Packing grounds into

The Scoop

®

forms a firm surface that won’t let

water through, dispensing weak coffee into cup.

Coffee Measurement

•

Water Ground Coffee

8 oz. (237 mL) 8 g = 1.5 tbsp

14 oz. (414 mL) 15 g = 3 tbsp

Do not exceed 15 g of grounds in The Scoop

®

during any brew cycle.

• Measurements are recommendations only. You can vary amounts and types of grounds to your

preference.

• Wait at least 5 minutes after brewing before emptying The Scoop

®

and rinsing Removable Grounds

Catcher.

Tips for Best-Tasting Coffee

• All coffees are made from either arabica beans

or robusta beans, or some combination of both.

Arabica beans are slightly more expensive, but

tend to produce better-tasting coffee.

• Ground coffee will become stale much faster

than whole beans. If buying preground coffee,

choose a package with the latest expiration date

or a smaller quantity.

• Try to use freshly ground coffee within about a

week of grinding.

• Using a water filter, filtered water, or bottled

water will yield better-tasting coffee than some

tap water.

• Make sure your coffee maker is clean. See “Care

and Cleaning” section.

• Soft water causes poor coffee extraction, leading

to poor-tasting coffee. Use filtered, spring, or

bottled water if your water is soft.

Care and Cleaning

w WARNING

Electrical Shock Hazard. Do not immerse cord, plug, or coffee maker in any

liquid.

Coffee Makers should be cleaned at least once a month (once a week for areas with hard water).

1. Unplug.

2. The Scoop

®

, Grounds Catcher and Drip Tray

Cover are dishwasher-safe in Top Rack only.

DO NOT use “SANITIZE” setting when washing

in dishwasher. SANITIZE cycle temperatures

could damage your product.

3. Wipe outside of Coffee Maker with a damp

cloth or sponge. Dry.

4. Do not use abrasive cleaners or sponges; this

will damage Coffee Maker exterior.

Monthly Cleaning

1. Unplug.

2. Pour 1/2 cup (125 mL) of plain white vinegar

and 1/2 cup (125 mL) of cold water into Water

Reservoir.

3. Place at least a 12 oz mug on Drip Tray Cover.

4. Plug into outlet.

5. Press BREW Button once. After 30 seconds,

unplug to turn off Coffee Maker.

6. After 30 minutes, plug into outlet again and

then press BREW Button to finish brewing

cycle.

7. Empty mug and clean.

8. Brew one cycle with clean water before

brewing coffee.

Troubleshooting

Coffee tastes bad.

• Coffee Maker needs cleaning. See ”Care and

Cleaning“.

• Coffee ground too coarsely or too finely. Set

coffee grinder to automatic drip grind.

• Poor coffee quality and freshness.

• Soft water causes poor coffee extraction,

leading to poor-tasting coffee. Use filtered,

spring or bottled water if your water is soft.

Water on counter under unit.

• Overfilled Water Reservoir. Do not add more

than 14 oz (414 mL) water.

Coffee Maker will not brew.

• Add water. If there is no water in Water

Reservoir and BREW Button is pressed, the

unit will not brew.

Weak coffee.

• Adjust water/coffee ratio by using slightly less

water and/or more grounds. Be careful to not

exceed the MAX fill for grounds.

Coffee overflows from The Scoop

®

.

• Use a lesser amount of ground coffee.

• When using whole bean coffee, a medium

automatic drip coffee grind will yield best

results. Be careful not to overgrind, since very

finely ground coffee can cause overflow in this

unit.

• Always use both The Scoop

®

and Grounds

Catcher together while brewing.

• Do not use soft water. Use cold filtered, spring,

or bottled water.

Limited Warranty

This warranty applies to products purchased and used in the U.S. and Canada. This is the

only express warranty for this product and is in lieu of any other warranty or condition.

This product is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a

period of five (5) years from the date of original purchase in Canada and one (1) year

from the date of original purchase in the U.S. During this period, your exclusive remedy

is replacement of this product or any component found to be defective, at our option;

however, you are responsible for all costs associated with our returning a product or

component under this warranty to you. If the product or component is unavailable, we will

replace with a similar one of equal or greater value.

This warranty does not cover glass, filters, wear from normal use, use not in conformity

with the printed directions, or damage to the product resulting from accident, alteration,

abuse, or misuse. This warranty extends only to the original consumer purchaser or

gift recipient. Keep the original sales receipt, as proof of purchase is required to make a

warranty claim. This warranty is void if the product is used for other than single-family

household use or subjected to any voltage and waveform other than as specified on the

une prise polarisée. Ne contrecarrez pas

l’objectif sécuritaire de cette fiche en la

Utilisation

w AVERTISSEMENT

Risque de brûlures.

• En cas de débordement, débrancher la cafetière et laisser refroidir.

• Pour éviter tout débordement, ne pas mettre de café moulu au-delà de la ligne de

remplissage MAX et garder le couvercle complètement fermé.

• Veuillez insérer complètement la tasse de voyage sur le couvercle pour plateau

d’égouttage ou la tasse sur le repose-tasse.

Avant la première utilisation : Laver toutes les pièces amovibles dans de l’eau chaude savonneuse. Rincer

et sécher. Infuser un cycle avec l’eau et jeter le restant de l’eau.

1. Brancher dans une prise de courant.

2. Pour remplir le réservoir d’eau, soulever le

couvercle à charnière et ajouter de l’eau du

robinet ou de l’eau filtrée jusqu’à la ligne MIN

(237 mL/8 oz) ou la ligne MAX (414 mL/14 oz).

3. Fermer le couvercle du réservoir d’eau.

4. Utiliser la languette du couvercle pour soulever

le couvercle. Tenir la poignée du dispositif The

Scoop

®

et retirer le dispositif The Scoop

®

pour

ajouter le café moulu. Verser la quantité de

café moulu directement dans le dispositif The

Scoop

®

, ne pas remplir de café au-delà de la

ligne MAX. Mesurer le café de la façon suivante

:

• Tasse de 237 mL (8 oz) = 8 g (1 1/2 cuil. à

table) de café moulu

• Tasse de 414 mL (14 oz) = MAX 15 g (3 cuil.

à table) de café moulu

REMARQUE : Pour obtenir un café au goût

parfait, ajuster les quantités en augmentant ou

en diminuant.

5. Ajouter le dispositif The Scoop

®

en alignant la

poignée avec la fente du récipient pour café

moulu et abaisser fermement le couvercle

jusqu’à ce qu’il s’encliquette en place.

6. Appuyer sur le bouton BREW (infusion); le

voyant d’infusion blanc s’allumera. La cafetière

s’éteindra automatiquement une fois le cycle

d’infusion terminé. Pour arrêter l’infusion avant

qu’elle soit terminée, débrancher la cafetière.

Toujours attendez 2 minutes pour laisser

l’appareil refroidir entre les infusions.

REMARQUES :

• S’il n’y a pas d’eau dans le réservoir d’eau, le

voyant d’infusion blanc restera allumé et la

cafetière ne lancera pas l’infusion. Ajoutez de

l’eau dans le réservoir d’eau et appuyez sur le

bouton BREW (infusion) pour lancer l’infusion.

• Lorsque vous utilisez des grains de café,

une mouture moyenne pour cafetière filtre

automatique donnera les meilleurs résultats.

Veiller à ne pas trop moudre le café, car les

grains de café à mouture très fine peuvent

causer un débordement.

• Veuillez toujours insérer le récipient pour café

moulu avant d’insérer le dispositif The Scoop

®

.

• Ajoutez uniquement de l’eau froide dans le

réservoir d’eau.

• Attendez 2 minutes pour laisser l’appareil

refroidir entre les infusions.

Conseils :

• Pour un café plus chaud, rincer votre tasse ou

tasse de voyage avec de l’eau chaude avant de

commencer l’infusion.

• Une trop grande quantité de café moulu ne

donne pas de meilleurs résultats. Trop remplir le

dispositif The Scoop

®

ne laisse pas suffisamment

d’espace pour l’infusion. L’eau peut déborder et

vous obtiendrez un café faible.

• Ne pas tasser le café moulu. Tasser le café moulu

dans le dispositif The Scoop

®

formera une surface

dure qui ne laissera pas passer l’eau à travers le

café moulu, et vous obtiendrez un café faible.

Conseils pour obtenir un excellent café

• Tous les cafés sont faits à partir de grains arabica

ou robusta ou une combinaison des deux. Les

grains arabica sont légèrement plus coûteux,

mais ont tendance à produire le meilleur café.

• Le café moulu s’évente beaucoup plus

rapidement que les grains entiers. Si vous

achetez du café moulu, choisissez un paquet

avec la date d’expiration la plus tardive ou une

plus petite quantité.

• Essayez d’utiliser du café fraîchement moulu

dans la semaine qui suit.

• L’utilisation d’un filtre à eau, d’eau filtrée ou

d’eau en bouteille permettra de réaliser un café

meilleur qu’avec de l’eau du robinet.

• Assurez-vous que la cafetière est propre.

• L’eau douce a une faible capacité d’extraction

du café, ce qui confère au café un goût faible.

Utiliser de l’eau filtrée, de source ou en bouteille

si votre eau est douce.

• Rincer le dispositif The Scoop

®

et le récipient

pour café moulu amovible après chaque

utilisation.

Entretien et nettoyage

w AVERTISSEMENT

Risque de choc électrique. Ne pas immerger le cordon, la fiche ou la

cafetière dans aucun liquide.

Les cafetières devraient être nettoyées au moins une fois par mois (une fois par semaine pour les

endroits où l’eau est dure).

1. Débrancher.

2. Le dispositif The Scoop

®

, le récipient pour

café moulu et le couvercle pour plateau

d’égouttage vont au lave-vaisselle, dans le

panier supérieur seulement. Ne pas utiliser

le cycle « SANITIZE » lors du lavage au lave-

vaisselle. Les températures du cycle

« SANITIZE » pourraient endommager votre

produit.

3. Essuyer l’extérieur de la cafetière à l’aide d’un

chiffon ou d’une éponge humide. Sécher.

4. Ne pas utiliser d’éponges ou de nettoyants

abrasifs; cela endommagerait l’extérieur de la

cafetière.

Nettoyage mensuel

1. Débrancher.

2. Verser 125 mL (1/2 tasse) de vinaigre blanc

et 125 mL (1/2 tasse) d’eau froide dans le

réservoir d’eau.

3. Placer une tasse d’au moins 355 mL (12 oz) sur

le couvercle pour plateau d’égouttage.

4. Brancher dans la prise.

5. Appuyer sur le bouton BREW (infusion)

une fois. Après 30 secondes, débrancher la

cafetière pour l’éteindre.

6. Après 30 minutes, brancher à nouveau

l’appareil dans la prise et appuyer sur le

bouton BREW (infusion) pour terminer le cycle

d’infusion.

7. Vider et nettoyer la tasse.

8. Infuser un cycle avec de l’eau propre avant

d’infuser du café.
